need ideas for to raise money for hospital equipment? sensible answers only please!?

my sister needs a drip every two weeks, local hospital cannot give it to her due to lack of equipment which means she has a lot of travelling to do, need some suggestions for fund raising? thanks to anyone who can help x

1. i am assuming you are in the US - is it unreasonable to buy the machine needed for the drip? if not, I would approach local service companies (rotary, march of dimes), your church, local fire department...even local businesses. even though things are economically lousy right now, more people step up to help a person with medical needs. you can see if there is a space that will permit you to host a fund-raising sale of goods, baked/preserves etc....good luck!
2. I would contact the CEO of the company who makes the machines and promise them lots of publicity if they could see their way to donating a machine to you. Despite the economic downturn, many businesses have a fund for charitable purposes, and much of their donations are tax deductable, so give it a go. What do you have to lose? Good luck.
